HUN CHUNG LEE
b.1967, Korea
Hun Chung Lee is a master ceramicist from Seoul, currently living between Seoul and Los Angeles. He studied ceramics at Hongik University and its graduate school, and later received an MFA in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute. He subsequently completed doctoral coursework in architecture, continuing to expand his practice across disciplines. His work has been presented in exhibitions both in Korea and internationally, including Korean Buncheong Ceramics Special Exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and a solo exhibition at Hyundai Card Storage, Seoul.
He has also realized major public art projects, including the ceramic mural Royal Procession of King Jeongjo along Cheonggyecheon and a ceramic mural at Sapyeong Station, Seoul, Korea. His works are collected by internationally renowned figures such as architect Norman Foster and installation artist James Turrell, and are held in the collections of major institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Musée Cernuschi, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Seoul Museum of Craft Art, and Leeum Museum of Art.
