마누엘라 카린 크나웃(Manuela Karin Knaut) 작가는 현재 독일 브라운슈바이크를 기반으로 작품 활동을 하고 있다.

남아프리카공화국 요하네스버그의 University of the Witwatersrand에서 순수미술 석사 학위를 취득하고, 독일 시각예술가협회(Bund Bildender Künstler, BBK), 국제조형예술협회(Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques, AIAP), 남아프리카공화국 시각예술 네트워크(VANSA), 독일·오스트리아 여성 예술가 전문 단체인 GEDOK 등 국제 예술 단체의 회원으로 활동하고 있다.

크나우트의 작업은 끊임없는 발견과 미지의 세계를 향한 탐구의 과정이라 할 수 있다. 거리에서의 경험, 다른 창작자들과의 교류, 온라인 환경 등 일상과 사람들로부터 영감을 얻으며, 대비와 역동성, 혼돈과 평온, 추상과 구상의 경계를 자유롭게 넘나든다. 또한 실크스크린, 아크릴, 그래피티, 유화, 잉크 등 다양한 매체와 기법을 유기적으로 결합해 자신만의 시각 언어를 구축해 왔다. 그녀의 작품은 일관된 모티프와 조형 언어를 바탕으로 높은 인지도를 지니면서도, 끊임없이 새로운 영역을 탐구한다는 점에서 늘 변화와 확장을 이어간다.

크나우트의 작품은 남아프리카공화국, 가나, 일본, 스위스, 덴마크, 영국, 오스트리아, 미국, 이스라엘, 중국, 사우디아라비아, 키르기스스탄 등 세계 각국의 전시와 아트페어를 통해 소개되었으며, 현재 그녀의 작품은 전 세계 5개 대륙의 주요 공공 및 개인 컬렉션에 소장되어 있다.

Manuela Karin Knaut, born in 1970, is an independent artist currently living in Braunschweig, Germany.

She acquired a Master of Arts in Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has been a member of many prestigious and international art alliances such as the Bund Bildender Künstler (German Association of Visual Artists), the Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques, The Visual Arts Network of South Africa (VANSA) as well as the GEDOK, professional Organisation of German and Austrian Female Artists.

Knaut´s works can best be described as constant discovery and seeking of the unknown. Whether that is on the streets, in exchange with other creators or online- her inspiration stems from everyday life and people. Knaut plays with contrasts, restlessness and the wild, chaos and peace, abstraction and figurativeness. She incorporates many different styles, media and techniques such as silk screen print, acrylics, graffiti, oils and ink. Her artworks have a very high recognition level as they circle around similar motives and styles but never stay the same either.

Manuela’s  work has been shown internationally in numerous exhibitions and art fairs in countries all over the globe such as South Africa, Ghana, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, UK, Austria, USA, Israel, China, Saudi Arabia and Kirghistan to only name a few. Her works are part of notable private and public collections across all five continents.
