세계와 개인, 그리고 연속적인 불협화음, 의식 안 language와 잠재의식의 이미지 사이에 충돌되는 이중적 세계의 힘을 시각화하여 그 현상의 갈등에 대한 이해에 접근함을 시작으로 한다. 내 유전자 안, 억압된 상태의 잠재의식 안에 연속적으로 공격받는 이미지, 소음, 형태와 단어들과 선택된 조합의 화면 안에 의식된 언어의 구조와 배치된 형상들의 대치된 마찰 사이에서의 회복 불가능한 불협화음의 갈등을 시각적으로 구성,시도로 또다른 균형을 위한 과정이다. 과정은 이런 여러 조건 아래 의식이 존재하지 않는 객관적 존재인 물질 세계의 현상과 각 개체의 형태를 수집, 시공간에 이들을 탈구, 조합하여 기록함을 말한다. 이러한 과정에서 세계와 나의 사이에 발견하는 불확실성, 상호 불협화음의 반대 세력에는 균열과 해체 통하여 이를 증폭시키는 힘을 갖고잇는 사실을 발견한다. 그 증폭의 힘안에는 억압된 잠재의식에 감정적 이미지와 의식 세계의 언어와 소리 사이를 유한하게 표현하는 능력에는 크고 강한 병치의 효과가 잠재되어 있기 때문이다. 나는 이 불편한 불협화음의 마찰의 힘을 병치, 기록하며, 세계라는 현상과 그에 역동적 변화, 확장에 대한 내가 본 세계를 시각적, 회화적으로 전환하고 표현하려 한다. 또한 이 컬렉션의 과정과 결과는 개인적, 시대적으로 나타난 현상에 대한 개인적 대처에 관한 선집이라 할 수 있다.
In my work, I bring my terminal struggle to life in a material form. Ever since I can remember, a
cacophony of words and images in conflict has plagued the forefront of my mind. I amplify the
fissure between these oppositional forces in my art. There is a powerful juxtaposition between the latent emotional imagery in my subconscious and my ability to finitely express this in the conscious world. I visually reconcile the power of this friction in the form of painting. This collection is an extended anthology of how I’ve dealt with this challenge and its manifestations in each phase of my life.
