앤갤러리는 2025년 11월 15일부터 12월 20일까지 서희수, 홍정욱, 지훈 스타크(JEE HOON STARK) 작가가 참여하는 전시 《틈》을 개최한다. 세 작가는 회화, 조각, 설치, 도예 등 다양한 형식과 매체를 넘나들며 기존의 회화적 범주를 확장하고, 경계 사이의 ‘틈’에서 발생하는 다층적 감각과 새로운 조형 세계를 탐구한다.

 

이번 전시는 틈을 단절이나 공백이 아닌, 서로 다른 세계가 맞닿아 이어지는 시작점이자 연결의 서사로 조명한다. 서로 다른 매체와 장르, 문화적 배경을 넘나드는 세 작가의 작품은 경계의 사이에서 확장되는 새로운 감각적 사유의 틈을 제시한다. 이를 통해 작품과 개인의 내면, 물리적 공간과 감각적 시간 사이에서 교차되는 연결성의 층위를 탐구하며 틈은 다양한 형식과 의미가 새롭게 이어지고 확장되는 생성의 지점으로 전환된다.

 

서희수 작가는 유기적 물성을 지닌 흙, 붕대, 나무 등의 재료를 활용한 조각과 설치 작품을 통해 인간 내면의 치유와 회복의 서사를 시각화 하며, 나아가 자연의 연결성과 초월성에 대해 탐구한다. ’Untitled’ 작품의 표면에 새겨진 결은 상처와 재생, 불완전성과 회복의 여정을 은유한다. 연약하고 부드러운 흙물에 담근 붕대로 만들어진 형상은 가마 소성을 거치며 단단하고 견고한 물성을 가진 조형으로 새롭게 태어난다. 재료의 물성과 그 고유함에 몰입하는 과정의 시간이 응축되어 남겨진 흔적은 인간과 자연의 본질에 대한 작가의 깊은 사유를 드러내며, 내면의 균열을 치유하고 새로운 가능성의 세계로 나아가게 한다.

 

홍정욱 작가는 평면 회화의 요소를 해체하고 재구성하며, 물질성과 공간성을 확장하는 새로운 조형 언어를 탐구한다. 캔버스 구조에 나무, 철사, 아크릴, 유리 등 다양한 재료를 결합하여 색과 질감, 형태와 공간 사이의 긴장과 균형을 조율하며 평면의 경계를 허물고, 그 경계가 만들어내는 감각적 경험으로 이끈다. 평면과 입체, 물질과 공간 사이를 넘나드는 실험적 조형은 주변의 환경과 공존하며 시각 예술의 근본 요소와 원리를 재해석하여 새로운 시각적 질서를 구축한다. 그의 작품은 회화의 관념적 형식을 넘어 구조적, 지각적 차원으로 확장되며 시각 예술의 본질적 개념과 다층적 감각을 제시한다.

 

지훈 스타크 작가는 다문화적 배경과 건축적 사고를 기반으로 회화, 조각, 도예 등 다양한 매체를 유연하게 넘나들며 개인적인 기억과 일상에서의 영감을 자신의 고유한 언어로 시각화 한다. 일상적 소재의 이미지와 언어의 유희적 도상이 자유롭게 구성된 화면에 집이나 도시 같은 공간의 건축적 구조를 결합하여 과거와 현재, 현실과 상상 사이의 경계를 재구성한다. 이번 전시에서는 2021년부터 이어온 ‘LUMI KUKE Series (부엌 시리즈)’의 연장 선상에 있는 신작을 포함하여 처음 선보이는 ‘시리즈 없는’ 신작들을 소개한다. 특유의 따뜻한 시선으로 기억과 경험이 교차하는 서사를 담아내며 익숙한 일상 속에서 새로운 영감의 틈을 발견하게 한다.

 

이번 전시 《틈》은 경계의 모호함 속에서 생성되는 새로운 연결과 확장의 미학을 제시한다. 서희수, 홍정욱, 지훈 스타크 세 작가의 작품을 통해 균열과 치유, 물질과 차원, 일상과 상상이 교차하는 순간을 조응하며, 틈은 단순한 간극을 넘어 서로 다른 세계가 이어지고 확장되는 새로운 시각과 감각적 사유의 경험을 선사한다.

N Gallery presents TEUM, featuring works by Heesu Suh, Jungouk Hong, and Jeehoon Stark, on view from November 15 to December 20, 2025. The three artists traverse diverse forms and media—including painting, sculpture, installation, and ceramics—expanding the conventional boundaries of painting and exploring the multilayered sensations and new sculptural worlds that emerge between these boundaries.

The exhibition frames the concept of ‘interstice’ not as a void or interruption, but as a point of contact and a narrative of connection between different worlds. Crossing media, genres, and cultural contexts, the works of these artists reveal new sensory and perceptual spaces. In doing so, TEUM examines the intersecting layers of connectivity between artworks, the viewer’s interior, physical space, and temporal perception, positioning the interstice as a generative site where form and meaning are newly linked and expanded.

Heesu Suh visualizes narratives of healing and recovery of the human psyche through sculptures and installations using materials with organic properties such as clay, bandages, and wood, while investigating the interconnectedness and transcendence of nature. The textures engraved on the surface of ‘Untitled’ metaphorically suggest wounds, regeneration, incompleteness, and the journey toward restoration. Bandage forms dipped in soft clay are kiln-fired, emerging as solid, enduring structures. The traces left by this immersive engagement with the material’s inherent qualities reflect the artist’s profound contemplation of human and natural essence, guiding the viewer toward healing internal fissures and exploring possibilities for new worlds.

Jungouk Hong deconstructs and reconstructs elements of painting to explore a new sculptural language that expands materiality and spatiality. By integrating wood, wire, acrylic, and glass into the canvas structure, he orchestrates tensions and balances between color, texture, form, and space, dissolving the boundaries of the flat plane and transforming them into sensory experiences. His experimental practice, moving between two- and three-dimensional, material and spatial realms, engages the surrounding environment and reinterprets fundamental principles of visual art, establishing a new visual order. Hong’s works extend beyond the conceptual frameworks of painting to structural and perceptual dimensions, offering layered sensory experiences and reconsidering the essence of visual art.

Jeehoon Stark, drawing on his multicultural background and architectural sensibility, navigates painting, sculpture, and ceramics to visualize personal memories and everyday inspirations through a distinct visual language. He combines everyday imagery and playful iconography with architectural structures—houses or urban spaces—to reconstruct boundaries between past and present, reality and imagination. The exhibition presents both new works continuing the ‘LUMI KUKE Series (Kitchen Series)’ initiated in 2021 and entirely new ‘non-series’ works, reflecting Stark’s warm perspective and inviting viewers to discover moments of inspiration within the familiar rhythms of daily life.

TEUM presents an aesthetics of connection and expansion emerging from the ambiguity of boundaries. Through the works of Heesu Suh, Jungouk Hong, and Jeehoon Stark, viewers encounter moments where rupture meets healing, materiality intersects with dimensionality, and the everyday engages with imagination. The interstice is revealed not as a mere gap, but as a conduit through which distinct worlds are linked and expanded, offering a renewed experience of visual and sensory reflection.
