그는 좀 더 빠른 그림, 동세와 속도감, 소리 등을 그리려는 의도 아래 그라인더를 사용하게 되었다고 한다. 갈아내고 다시 그리는 작업을 수 차례 반복하면서 진행되는 그의 작업은 매우 신속하게 이루어진다. 약 한 시간이면 거의 모든 작업이 끝나고 나머지 20% 정도는 시간을 두면서 마무리가 된다고 한다. 여기서 그라인더는 그리면서 동시에 이미지를 지우고 훼손하고 일부러 망친 척 한다. 아니 그라인더 자국이 또 다른 표현기법이 되고 드로잉, 붓질이 되었다. 그라인더는 작가의 신체적 움직임을 신속하게 반영하고 시간과 속도를 각인하며 굉음을 환청으로 유지, 연장시킨다. 우리는 그 소음을 상상하면서 볼 수밖에 없다. 이 기계, 도구를 안고 화면의 표면 위에서 몰고 다니는 동작은 기묘한 쾌감과 공격성, 난폭함, 그리고 극도의 세심한 조율 등을 요구하면서 화면과 작가의 신체가 극도로 몰입되는 상황을 연출해준다. 그라인더는 물감 층을 벗겨내고 속살을 드러내면서 그림을 얇게 저민다. 이 때 입체와 평면성은 혼재된다.

He claims that he started using the grinder with the intention to better capture the speed, movement and sound in his work. The repetitive process of grinding and repainting in his work happens speedily. According to the artist, most of the work is completed in about hour, and the remaining 20% or so is completed with time. Here, the grinder simultaneously draws, erases and damages the image, seemingly on purpose.Actually, the marks left by the grinder become another form of expression, like drawing and brush strokes. The grinder reflects the artist’s quick physicals movements, carving time and speed, extending and retaining the roar into an auditory hallucination that we can only see using our imagination. The movement of the artist moving the machine across the painting brings about mysterious exhilariation,pleasure,offense, violence and extremely careful tuning, showing the situation of intense physical convergence of the artist and his art.
