2024년 3월 7일, 앤 갤러리는 김성수, 백요섭, 오유경 작가의 회화 및 조각 작품들을 선보이는 "Blooming" 전시를 개최합니다. 이 전시는 새롭게 피어나는 봄을 향한 존재의 본질과 인간의 내면세계를 탐구하는 여정을 제시합니다.

 

김성수 작가는 의식과 잠재의식 사이의 끊임없는 갈등을 회화로 표현합니다. 이를 통하여 의식이 존재하지 않는 객관적 존재인 물질세계의 현상과 각 개체의 형태를 수집하여 탐구, 조합하여 기록하며 새로운 화면을 만들어 냅니다. 억압된 감정, 이미지, 언어가 마찰을 일으키는 과정에서 발생하는 에너지를 회화로 전환하여 존재의 의미에 대한 질문을 던집니다.

 

백요섭 작가는 중첩된 시간의 흔적을 따라 탐구하는 회화로서 캔버스 위에 쌓인 물감 층과 시간의 흐름을 연결하여 과거와 현재, 기억과 현실의 경계를 허물어냅니다. Palimpsest라는 개념을 통해 시간에 따라 지워지고 새겨진 흔적을 표현하며, 반복되는 시간 속에서 존재의 유연성을 탐구합니다. 빛과 그림자, 층과 층 사이에 내재된 공간은 삶의 덧없음과 영원성을 동시에 보여주며, 관람객들에게 시간의 깊이를 생각하게 합니다.

 

오유경 작가는 여행에서 경험한 극한 환경에서 영감을 얻어 크리스탈 조각을 선보입니다. 고산지의 탕카를 보기 위해 다녀온 라다크에서 중력에 걷는 것과 숨쉬는 것조차 힘듦을 느끼고 난 뒤 눈에 보이지 않는 에너지와 시공간의 관계를 표현하며, 인간과 자연의 연결성을 탐구합니다. 크리스탈은 빛을 투영하고 반사하며 다양한 모습을 보여주며, 이는 변화하는 세상 속에서 존재의 다면성을 상징합니다. 작가는 라다크의 영혼과 공명하며 인간 내면의 깊은 곳에 숨겨진 빛을 발견하도록 이끌어줍니다.

 

"Blooming" 전시는 단순한 아름다움을 보여주는 것이 아니라, 존재의 본질과 의미에 대한 깊은 질문을 던집니다. 세 작가의 작품들은 서로 다른 방식으로 인간의 내면세계를 탐구하며, 관람객들에게 철학적인 사색과 영적인 성찰의 기회를 제공합니다.

N Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition “Blooming” of paintings and sculptures by Kim Sungsoo, Baek Joseph, and Oh Youkyeong. Opening on March 7, 2024, the exhibition goes beyond the mere imagery of blooming flowers to offer a journey that delves into the essence of existence and the inner world of human beings.

 

Kim Sungsoo’s paintings depict the ceaseless conflict between consciousness and subconsciousness. Images, noises, forms, and words latent in genes clash with conscious language, creating dissonance. Kim visually constructs this unstable equilibrium, revealing the uncertainty between the world and the individual. By transforming the energy generated by the friction between suppressed emotions, images, and language into paintings, he raises questions about the meaning of existence.

 

Baek Joseph connects the layers of paint and the passage of time on the canvas, breaking down the boundaries between past and present, memory and reality. Through the concept of Palimpsest, he expresses the traces that are erased and inscribed over time, exploring the flexibility of existence in the midst of repetitive time. The space inherent between light and shadow, layer and layer, simultaneously shows the transience and eternity of life, making viewers contemplate the depth of time.

 

Inspired by the extreme environment she experienced during her travels in Ladakh, Oh Youkyeong presents crystal sculptures. She expresses the relationship between invisible energy and spacetime, exploring the connection between humans and nature. Crystals project and reflect light, showing various aspects, symbolizing the multifaceted nature of existence in a changing world. Resonating with the soul of Ladakh, the artist leads us to discover the light hidden deep within the human soul.

 

The exhibition, “Blooming”, goes beyond merely showcasing beautiful flowers; it delves into profound questions about the nature and meaning of existence. The works of the three artists explore the inner world of human in different ways, offering viewers an opportunity for philosophical reflection and spiritual introspection.
